Understanding Vicarious Trauma
Although the term was only derived in 1990, vicarious trauma has long been an occupational challenge for those working or volunteering in fields that have unremitting exposure to trauma and violence which can lead to a range of negative consequences.
This 2-hour course explores the impact on staff who support others with psychological trauma. The course helps learners to recognise the negative effects of vicarious trauma and to develop strategies to protect their wellbeing whilst enabling them to continue supporting others.
